Celebrating Independance 2008

The USA Cossacks wish everyone a Happy Independence Day which marks 232 years of declaring freedom from tyrannical rule.

Here is a unique piece of US history. It’s an original Silk panel made in 1922 showing the old 48 State flag of the United States laced in Japanese Fine Silk. This is from Ataman Serge's private collection and he was absolutey thrilled to come across this piece. It's one of his favorite USA historical treasures.

It also has the phrase “Three Cheers for the Red White and Blue” below the flag. It’s a phrase from the original national anthem from Lincoln’s era titled “Columbia, The Gem of the Ocean”. This song was slated to be the original national Anthem until 1931 when it was replaced with the Star “Spangled Banner”. This song was also the theme song for Voice of America Radio all over the world.

Here is a sample of the song.
